How to erase a physical device (HDD)
Erasing the physical device removes ALL information from the hard disk drive or floppy, including files, folders, MBR, partitions and file systems. No data recovery is possible from the device after erasing operation is complete!
To erase a physical device:
- Start Active@ Eraser and select the Hard Disk Drive to be erased beneath Hardware Devices node:
- Run the Erase command by doing one of the following:
- Click the Erase button on the toolbar, or
- Right-click selected items, and click Erase on the context menu, or
- Select the Erase menu item from the Tools menu
- In Active@ Eraser Options dialog choose appropriate erasing options:
- You can change default erasing method.
- You can turn on Verification option to verify the data after deletion.
- You can turn on Ignore Errors option to not display error message every time when read/write error encountered. Anyway all detected errors and warnings will be logged to the Event Log independently of this option.
- You can turn on Skip Confirmation option to skip the next dialog where you are to confirm erasing command.

Click ERASE button and confirm erasing action by typing: ERASE-ALL-DATA

Click CONFIRM button, watch the erasing progress and
wait while erasing is complete.
You can cancel the process of wiping deleted data anytime by clicking Stop button on the toolbar.
Important
Erasing action could be a long process, so that be prepared to wait. And even if you cancelled the operation in the middle, most likely Windows would not recognize your drives anymore, so even if some your data still resides on the drive, you'll not be able to access them through the Windows Explorer. Just specialized recovery software, like UNERASER (www.uneraser.com) might help you in this case.
